AN EXAMINATION ON FREE COOLING EFFICIENCY OF DRY COOLERS COMBINE WITH THE CHILLERS IN TANDEM WORK

Refrigeration World Magazine, No. 5, December 2009

Increasing energy efficiency is one of the most important points in our era. Becoming a matter of primary importance in air conditioning, industrial, commercial and process cooling applications, energy efficiency affects designs of the systems included dry coolers and water chillers. Besides, legislations and restrictions on energy efficiency also urge manufacturers to develop high performance, energy efficient, environment friendly, economic and long life products. In these purposes, the tendency towards alternative energy efficient systems, which use natural resources, is increasing. Free cooling is one of the natural resourced methods for energy efficiency.

This paper is intended to provide information on free cooling efficiency with a theoretically examination of A, C and E energy class dry coolers combined with the chillers in tandem work in air conditioning application.

EFFECTS OF FINNED TUBE TYPE AIR COOLED CONDENSERS DESIGN ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY

I.Cooling Technologies Symposium, İzmir, Turkey, October 2008

Decreasing energy consumption and increasing efficiency is one of the most important points in our era. Becoming a matter of primary importance in air conditioning, industrial and commercial cooling applications, supermarket cooling, blast freezing and process cooling applications, energy efficiency affects design of chillers (and its equipment such as condensers, compressors etc.) and urges manufacturers to develop high performance, energy-efficient, environment friendly, economic, and long life products. This paper is intended to provide information on the factors that affects energy efficiency of finned air cooled condensers used on chillers.

FACTORS AFFECTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN RADIATORS (DRY COOLERS) USED IN POWER PLANTS

XIV. International Energy and Environment Conference (ICCI 2008), İstanbul, Turkey, May 2008

Increasing efficiency and reaching maximum power capacity output with minimized expenses is a very important point in our era for energy manufacturers. That point affects design of radiators (dry coolers) widely used in power plants for heat rejection from the system and urges manufacturers to develop high performance, energy-efficient, environment friendly, economic, and long life radiators. This paper is intended to provide information on the factors that affects energy efficiency of radiators.

FREE COOLING APPLICATIONS OF DRY COOLERS FOR AIR CONDITIONING AND PROCESS COOLING SYSTEMS

VIII. International HVAC + R Technology Symposium, Turkish Society of HVAC and Sanitary Engineers, İstanbul, Turkey, May 2008

The heightened emphasis placed today on energy efficiency in air conditioning and process cooling applications, has an impact on the design of cooling systems responsible for the majority of energy consumption in facilities; the tendency towards alternative systems in order to increase efficiency of natural resources is increasing and systems consuming less energy continue to be developed.

The system of free cooling which reduces operational costs with the increase in efficiency it creates, entirely or partially eliminates the need for operation of the cold water generating group at periods of low ambient temperature, thus saving substantial amounts of energy.Dry cooler systems have an important function in energy efficiency, operating with a cooling group or independently depending on properties of the application.

This paper will offer detailed and comparative information on “Dry Cooler Free Cooling Systems” which are among free cooling techniques categorised as “Free Cooling for Water-Side Applications" [1], emphasizing energy efficiency in cooling installations through sample applications in various sectors.Information will also be given on the material, performance and construction properties of dry coolers as well.

ENERGY EFFICIENT FREE COOLING SYSTEMS FOR AIR CONDITIONING AND PROCESS COOLING SYSTEMS

VIII. National HVAC and Sanitary Congress and Exhibition (TESKON 2007), Tepekule Convention Center, İzmir, Turkey, October 2007

Increasing energy efficiency during the production, transmission and consumption of energy, in industrial enterprises, buildings, electricity generation plants, in transportation and in air conditioning facilities has have become the most important issue in our day, toward which end systems have been and are being developed to facilitate more comprehensive use of natural resources.

Free cooling systems are among the widely used energy efficiency applications.Free Cooling Systems are grouped in two categories as applications in Water-side and Air-side systems.

The system of Free Cooling which by virtue of the increase in efficiency it provides, cuts operational cost in systems requiring cooling water as well as the Chilled Beam system which is widely used in Europe and predominantly in the northern countries and which is becoming increasingly popular in other countries like the U.S.A. are effective systems in the pursuit of energy efficiency. The article provides information on the two systems, underlining the importance of energy efficiency in air conditioning installations.
